Tanzania Education Corp. is dedicated to developing sustainable education opportunities for students in Tanzania. Through our partnership with the Tumaini Schools, our initiatives aim to expose students to programming intended to supplement the national curriculum and equip them with skills to empower their community.
Project-Based Learning Courses
Developed at the start of Tumaini Senior Secondary School, our PBL courses invoke curiosity and require critical thinking as students conduct projects often related to solving real-world problems. These courses are particularly pertinent placing our students at the center of managing their own learning and generating creative ideas outside the traditional classroom setting. Some of our current courses include Economic Development in Tanzania, Service Learning, Design Thinking, and Journalism.
STEM Education
While the national curriculum requires students to select from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Information Computer Technology, most secondary schools are not equipped with science labs and equipment for students to engage in practical learning. In addition to constructing science labs, TEC has supplemented the curriculum with computer programming courses in which the students learn the basics of code, website design, and software like Python and Java.
Libraries & Literacy
The libraries at Tumaini Junior and Tumaini Senior foster a space for students to explore their interests and imaginations through books, art, games, and music. A space for students to interact with stories and narratives from across the globe and especially the African continent from voices they can relate to. The Tumaini Schools are English-medium in efforts to prepare students for higher education and a globalizing world. Reading programs like "Drop Everything And Read" provide leisure time for students to build their literary skills.
