Sponsor a Student

Families pay only a modest tuition to send their children to Tumaini Schools. Yet, many Tumaini families experience financial hardships because of crop failure, disease, divorce or death. Tanzania Education Corp pairs donors with a Tumaini student with a demonstrated financial need. To date, Tanzania Education Corp has paired over 125 students with sponsors.

A $1,700 sponsorship provides a student with tuition, school uniforms, school supplies and boarding items for a year. In return, sponsors receive student-written letters, photos, and updates. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, or for more information, email  programs@tanzania-schools.org and we will send you a list of students in need of sponsorship. Or, if you would like us to pair you with a student, click below.

Write to your Student

Our students love to hear from you! Mailed letters don’t always make it to Karatu, so send letters to:

Tanzania Education Corp

6 Norfolk Rd.

Chestnut Hill, MA 02467

and we will carry them in luggage to Karatu. Or, send your student an email addressed to programs@tanzania-schools.org. Our staff will print it out and give to student. Either way, we will work with our students to write timely responses so you can stay in touch.

Throw a Fruit Party

In place of individual gifts, we encourage  sponsors to donate $50 in honor of their student for a school Fruit Party! We will purchase fruit (typically oranges, watermelon, and bananas) for all boarding students as a Sunday treat in the name of your student.

To donate, click here and in the notes, be sure to write your student's name and that the donation is for a Fruit Party.

Meet A Sponsored Student

Given.JPG

The #1 girl student in Tanzania is from Tumaini School!

Given Cosmas, a 13 year old Tumaini Junior School student, took First Place among all the girls who sat for the National Exam, and Third Place overall. Almost a million students sat for the Exam, and Given received the third highest score. What better proof of the great job that Tumaini Junior School is doing to educate the future leaders of Tanzania.
